SCPL Teen Summer Reading (Ages 12-18)

U R Here--Now Let's Party!                             Tuesday, June 7 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.                 Come celebrate the start of summer with a yard party.  Hot dogs, ice cream, water games, music and lots of fun!  Come dressed to get wet.                       

 

U R Here--Now Make it Snazzy!                       Tuesday, June 14 from 6:30-8:00 p.m.                    An evening of international crafts including origami, beading, and batiking.  Bring a white shirt, tank top or any other clothing to dye.  This will be messy, so wear old clothes.

 

U R Here--Now Where Am I?                            Tuesday, June 21 from 6:30-8:00 pm                     Our teen panel will present information on current international issues, followed by a time of debate in which all teens will be invited to participate.     

 

U R Here--Now Improve Your Moves!              Tuesday, June 28 from 6:30-8:00 p.m.                     A workshop on hip-hop dance provided by professional dancer Safiyyah Rasool.

 

 

U R Here--Now Go There!                               Tuesday, July 5 from 6:30-8:00 p.m.                   Bring your best sleuthing skills and a compass (if you have one).  This will be an evening-long treasure hunt.  Participants will work in teams to solve riddles and follow trails to find treasure.

 

U R Here--Now Feel the Fear!                         Tuesday, July 12 from 6:30-8:00 pm                      The Kentucky Reptile Zoo will be visiting with a collection of live snakes and other reptiles from around the world.

 

Special Programs

 Foreign Film Festival for Teens                             June 9, 16, 23 & 30 from 3:00-5:30 pm                Join us every Thursday afternoon in June for a foreign film, food & discussion.

 

 

 Harry Potter Palooza!                                            July 22 from 10:00 am-4:00 pm                           Drop in for non-stop Harry Potter!  We'll have movies, trivia, games, food, prizes & Quidditch!  Watch for details.
